To prevent blindness, early detection of DR is therefore necessary. A hybrid model has been proposed by a research group from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Chittagong for diagnosing DR from fundus images. A combination of morphological image processing and Inception v3 deep learning techniques are exploited to detect DR as well as to classify healthy, mild non-proliferative DR (NPDR), moderate NPDR, severe NPDR, and proliferative DR (PDR).
